This Caxium 58-inch TV uses the TopTech and Zeasn platform. It ships with content and ads that install apps by themselves, a telemetry and update check, background services nobody needs, unused preloaded apps and a voice assistant. The list has 9 apps.
The Netflix and YouTube apps, Chrome, the cast receiver and the USB media browser are kept. Good to know on this model
- On this Android 9 TV, USB debugging may let anyone on your Wi-Fi get in while it is on. Turn debugging off when you are done.
- The voice assistant is on the list. If you turn it off, the remote's microphone button stops working.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.
Questions
Will the voice button still work on my Caxium TV?
Not if you switch off the voice assistant, which is on the list. The mic button then stops working. Leave that one on if you use voice.
Does casting still work?
Yes. The cast receiver that handles AirPlay and DLNA is kept.
Is debugging a safety problem?
On this TV the debugging port may be open to anyone on your Wi-Fi while it is on, so turn debugging off when TidyTV is finished.
