Debloat the RockTek GB1

Google TV 14 · 8 apps on the list · tested on a real set

This RockTek GB1 box runs Google TV 14. It ships with Android advertising and personalization services, feedback reporting and a few preloaded apps nobody asked for. The Google TV setup wizard is also on the list, but only after you check your Wi-Fi and the new home screen works.

The home screen handover and a restart were checked on the box. Long-term use, such as streaming, voice and updates, is not confirmed yet. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Questions

Will the gear and Macro buttons still work?

Only with the key helper turned on. They relied on the stock home screen. The gear opens TV settings and Macro opens a set app.

Will casting still work?

Possibly not. Switching off the setup wizard may cost casting. Turn it back on to get it back.

Does it have a way back?

Yes. Restore everything in the app turns every app back on in one tap, and puts the old home screen back if you changed it.
