Debloat the TCL 65C735

Google TV 11 · 29 apps on the list · tested on a real set

This TCL set ships with TCL analytics services that track device use, plus a cleaner that also reports health information. The home screen carries TCL content rows and a TCL Home panel with a gift box and promos, and TCL pushes messages to the TV. The list also covers the TCL account, a hearing test, a notes app, and several Google apps this owner does not use.

The debloat batches were checked on a French set wired through a USB Ethernet adapter. Wi-Fi and Ethernet, HDMI, Live TV, the Input key and app playback kept working. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything, so each app can be switched back on in the app.

Questions

Will the voice button still work on my TCL 65C735?

Not with the default list. It switches off Google Assistant and voice search, which the remote's mic button uses. Switch them back on in the app if you use voice.

Does casting still work?

Yes for Chromecast and Miracast, which the owner keeps. AirPlay is on the list and is switched off.

Will it stop the ads on the home screen?

Mostly. It turns off the TCL content rows and the TCL Home panel, the pushed messages, and the Google partner tracking service. Once the new home screen is installed, the stock Google TV home screen is no longer shown.
