Debloat the Xiaomi MiTV-AXSO2

Android TV 9 · 32 apps on the list · tested on a real set

The Xiaomi MiTV-AXSO2 is an Android TV 9 set from India, on the same board family as other dangal sets. It ships with Xiaomi and Google telemetry, PatchWall and sponsored rows, Mi TV+ live channels and a Sensara partner TV guide that promotes shows. It also has background services, a Google Play Music app that has been shut down, a TCL browser, and a text message service that a TV does not use.

Everything in the list stayed off after a restart on this set. The PatchWall button on the remote does nothing once its home app is off. TidyTV turns these apps off from your phone over the same Wi-Fi, after saving a backup, and deletes nothing.

Apps TidyTV can turn off on the Xiaomi MiTV-AXSO2

Grouped as the tested list groups them. In the app each one has a switch, so you choose. Apps marked your call are extras the list leaves on.

How to do it

  1. Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
  2. Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
  3. Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will it stop the ads on the home screen?

It turns off PatchWall, the Mi TV+ sponsored channels, the Sensara sponsored show picks, and the sponsored rows on the home screen. The Google recommendation rows are off too.

Can I get the old home screen back?

Yes. Restore everything turns every app back on and puts the old home screen back in one tap.

Will I still get firmware updates?

Not while the update service is off. Turn the Xiaomi update service back on in the app to check for firmware, and turn it off again if you like.
