Debloat the Xiaomi MiTV-MOSR4

The Xiaomi MiTV-MOSR4 comes with Xiaomi analytics and attribution services, ad rows and promo content on the home screen, a retail demo loop, a TV cleaner, Mi Music, Play Games and a firmware update service. The home screen ad row has access to an advertising ID, and none of this is needed to watch TV or use the inputs.

This list was tested on one TV, batch by batch, with a screenshot after each batch. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, AV and Live TV still read correctly afterwards, and the Netflix and SmartTube tiles both launched. Chromecast and Google Assistant were kept on request. TidyTV turns these apps off from your phone over Wi-Fi, with a backup first, and nothing is uninstalled.

Do not apply this section on a fresh run, or the Home button has nowhere to go. Disabling the stock launcher is not enough on Google TV: com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith also answers HOME and an ordinary app cannot outrank it. Disabling the setupwraith PACKAGE is what frees the slot; `pm disable-user` on its individual components is refused with a SecurityException. Trade-off: setupwraith is the first-run setup wizard. Everyday use is unaffected, but re-enable it before a factory reset - tools/restore.sh does that for you while this line is in the list.

Good to know on this model

The last group turns off the Google setup wizard. It also answers the Home button, so turn that group off only once a clean home screen is set, or the Home button may have nowhere to go.
Firmware updates are off in this list. Turn the Xiaomi update service back on in the app to get updates again.
This list is provisional. It was checked for one day, so turn back on any app you use.

How to do it

Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will the voice button still work?

Yes. Google Assistant is kept on request, so the voice button keeps working.

Does casting still work?

Chromecast built-in is kept on request. Mi Cast and the screen mirroring receiver are turned off in this list, so turn them back on in the app if you use them.

Will it stop the ads on the home screen?

It turns off the home screen ad row, the Mi content rows, the Mi TV+ tile and the web promo view. Use the last group, which turns off the setup wizard, only with a clean home screen set.
