The Sony BRAVIA 4K UR2 ships with Samba TV, a viewing tracker that fingerprints what is on screen. It also has recommendation rows, shop and demo apps, a voice assistant group and Chromecast. A set of preloaded apps that most owners skip are on it too.
The list was applied across one afternoon with the dock set to Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ and ZEE5. It has not been used for weeks yet, so check the streaming apps again after a day or two. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, with a backup first and nothing uninstalled. Restore everything switches them back on in one tap.

What always stays on
- Live TV and the tuner app, which also plays the HDMI inputs.
- The HDMI input and remote services, including Bravia Sync.
- Sony's Settings apps and system service, which run the TV's settings and the remote.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.
Questions
Will the voice button still work on my Sony BRAVIA 4K UR2?
Not with that group off. The voice group removes the remote's mic search, so leave its three apps on in the app if you use voice.
Does casting still work?
Yes, if you keep Chromecast built-in on. It is its own group in the list, so its switch can stay on while the rest are turned off.
Will it stop the ads on the home screen?
It turns off Samba TV, the recommendation rows and the shop and demo apps. Those are the tracking and promo parts of the list.
