This TCL runs Android TV 11 and ships with TCL analytics and logging, plus content feeds, promos and optional vendor services such as a guard cleaner, a store demo sticker, a message box and a TCL account app. Google extras, preloaded streaming apps and a preloaded browser add more.

Apps staying off and the clean home screen were verified after a reboot. The preloaded browser was turned off afterward, and the owner confirmed normal TV operation. TidyTV turns the apps off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Good to know on this model

The setup app may hold your saved Wi-Fi. Check that before turning it off.
Several apps, such as voice assistants and streaming apps, are off by the owner's choice.

How to do it

Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will the voice button still work on my TCL 55P638?

Not with the default list. The voice assistants are off by the owner's choice. Switch them back on in the app if you use voice.

Will it stop the ads on the home screen?

It turns off the TCL content feeds and promos, plus the Google extras and preload setup apps.

Can I get the old home screen back?

Yes. Restore everything turns every app back on and puts the stock Google TV home screen back.
