This TCL runs Google TV on Android 14 and ships with Samba TV, which tracks what is on screen, TCL analytics, log upload and account sign-in nags. It also has TCL Live FAST channels, content pushed to the home screen at boot, push messages and promos, retail demo apps, an e-manual and a cleaner. The ambient screensaver shows promos.

This is a clean-up only, and the stock Google TV home stays. The list was tested in five batches on a real unit. Home, YouTube, Live TV, the Input panel, four HDMI inputs, Chromecast, AirPlay, Miracast and Assistant all kept working. TidyTV saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Good to know on this model

Turning off the TCL tweaks to the Google TV home may drop the red TV tile.

How to do it

Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will the voice button still work on my TCL 85RM7L?

Yes. Google Assistant and the remote service that carries the mic button are kept.

Does casting still work?

Yes. Chromecast, AirPlay and Miracast are kept and were tested.

Will TV updates still work?

Yes. Firmware updates come through Google Play Services, which this list does not touch.
