This TCL set ships with TCL tracking and analytics services, content rows and promos on the home screen, and a retail demo mode. It also carries preloaded apps and services, an ambient screensaver that shows promos, and the usual Android 14 ad and privacy services from Google.

The list was checked on one set on Ethernet, with screenshots between batches. Home, the inputs menu (HDMI 1 to 4 and Live TV), Chromecast, AirPlay, Miracast and the remote's gear, Netflix, Prime Video and YouTube buttons all kept working, also after a reboot. TidyTV turns these apps off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Good to know on this model

The test was about one day of use, not weeks.
Wireless debugging switches itself off on Ethernet. On this set, USB debugging alone opens the connection.

How to do it

Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Can I get the old home screen back on my TCL C89B 85-inch?

Yes. Restore everything in the app turns every app back on and puts the old home screen back in one tap. TidyTV only switches apps off, so nothing is ever deleted.

Do the remote's Netflix and YouTube buttons still work?

Yes. They worked in testing, including after a reboot.

Does TidyTV delete anything on my TCL C89B 85-inch?

No. It turns apps off with Android's own setting, saves a backup first and checks each one. You can turn any app back on with its switch.
