This 40-inch TCL for Latin America runs on a small amount of memory, and its TCL telemetry, content and ad apps and background services add to the load. The list is short, 15 apps, and is aimed at those three groups. Each app has its own switch in the app, so you decide which ones to turn off.
It was applied in four batches on one real set, checked after each with screenshots and remote keys. Home, the Input key source picker, Settings, Wi-Fi and Netflix kept working, and the inputs menu listed HDMI 1, HDMI 2, AV and Live TV. It was tested for one day only. TidyTV turns these apps off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Good to know on this model
- The set has only about 920 MB of memory, so a clean home screen with fewer animations suits it.

How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Can I get the old home screen back on my TCL L40S66E?
Yes. Restore everything in the app turns every app back on and puts the old home screen back in one tap. TidyTV only switches apps off, so nothing is ever deleted.
