The Fire TV Stick 4K Max sends telemetry, metrics and usage reports to Amazon. Its home screen has sponsored rows, recommendations, promos and shopping, and the stick comes with preloaded Amazon apps. The list covers all three groups and leaves Amazon's home screen alone.
It was restarted twice after the list was applied, and everything stayed off. Home, Prime Video, Netflix and voice search worked. Good to know on this model
- With Alexa voice search left on, a group of Alexa helper services turns itself back on at every restart, so they are not on the list.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.
Questions
Will the voice button still work on my Fire TV Stick 4K Max?
Yes. Alexa voice search is kept on purpose.
Does casting still work?
Yes. The cast receiver and related casting services are kept.
Can I get a different home screen?
No. Amazon's home screen is protected on Fire TV. TidyTV removes the ads, telemetry and preloads around it.
