This 2023 Sony set runs Google TV on Android 12. It ships with a viewing tracker that identifies what is on screen, telemetry, Sony content, ads and recommendations, and retail demo and shop mode. The list also covers hotel and business mode and Sony cloud and ambient services.

It was tested and lived with on a KD-43X80L. HDMI 1 to 4, eARC, the tuner, the remote and streaming apps such as Max and VLC all worked across restarts. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

Good to know on this model

Switching off the Google TV setup wizard gives Home back, but it can break Chromecast built in. Leave that line on if you cast.
The voice assistant group removes the remote's mic search. Leave those three lines on if you use voice.

How to do it

Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will the voice button still work on my Sony KD-43X80L?

Not if you apply the voice assistant group. Leave those three apps on to keep mic search.

Does casting still work?

Yes, unless you switch off the setup wizard, which can break Chromecast built in. Leave it on if you cast.

Will HDMI and Live TV still work?

Yes. HDMI 1 to 4, eARC and the tuner worked across restarts in testing.
