This 2015 Sony set runs Android TV 7 with 1.5 GB of memory. It ships with telemetry, remote support and bug reports, Sony content, ads and recommendation shelves, and a retail demo. The list also covers preloaded help apps, unused Sony apps and discontinued Google services.
Everything is turned off, not uninstalled, so it is fully reversible. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything. The phone and TV need to be on the same Wi-Fi, and the TV asks you once to allow debugging.

Good to know on this model
- The home screen on this set is the older leanback launcher, not the one on newer Android TVs.
- The voice assistant is only turned off if you do not use voice search or the voice remote.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.
Questions
Will Live TV and HDMI still work on my Sony KD-49X8307C?
Yes. The Sony TV app plays channels and HDMI inputs, and TidyTV keeps it on.
Will the voice button still work?
Only if you leave the voice assistant group on. Switch it back on in the app if you use voice.
Can I get the old home screen back?
Yes. Restore everything turns every app back on and puts the old home screen back in one tap.
