This Sony runs Android TV 8.0 and ships with Samba TV, which recognises what is on screen. It also carries Sony and Google content rows, promotions and partner app installs, plus device agents for remote support and feedback. A few help, manual and media apps are listed too, marked to keep if you use them.
This is a short-term owner test, with a Roku supplying streaming. TidyTV turns the listed apps off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything. Chromecast, DLNA, mirroring, the phone remote and Assistant were left on.

- The TV's developer options call the switch ADB debugging.
- This is a short test from one owner, not a long-term report.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Will the voice button still work on my Sony XBR-55X850D?
Yes. Google Assistant was left on.
Does casting still work?
Yes. Chromecast, DLNA and mirroring were left enabled.
Will it stop the ads on the home screen?
It turns off the Sony and Google content rows and promotions, and the partner app installs. A clean replacement home screen is optional.
