Debloat the Philips Google TV TA7

Google TV 14 · 17 apps on the list · tested on a real set

This Philips set sells in Brazil and runs Google TV. It ships with telemetry and ad attribution, manufacturer content and popups, and background extras. The list also covers apps this owner does not use. Each app on the list has its own switch in the app, so you decide what goes.

It was applied in batches with a screenshot after each. Home, HDMI 1, Live TV, YouTube and HBO Max played, every remote button worked and everything survived a restart. It has not been lived with for days. TidyTV turns these off from your phone over Wi-Fi, saves a backup first and never deletes anything.

How to do it

  1. Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
  2. Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
  3. Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.

Questions

Will the remote's buttons still work?

Mostly. The Input and app buttons keep working. The Settings button needs the helper service once the stock home screen is off.

Will Live TV and HDMI still work?

Yes. Live TV and HDMI 1 were checked, and everything survived a restart.

Can I get the old home screen back?

Yes. Restore everything turns every app back on and puts the old home screen back in one tap.
