This China-market Hisense E5Q Pro runs VIDAA on Android 11. It ships with Hisense advertising, telemetry, push messages, store, hotel and demo modes, preloaded content and gimmicks, a first-run setup and a screensaver of ambient photos. The list has 18 apps.
It was applied and used for a few days with no crashes and a normal boot. The inputs, HDMI-CEC and the Sogou keyboard kept working. The VIDAA home screen is left alone. Good to know on this model
- There is an optional setting that blocks ads, which the list's header mentions as a bonus. It is not an app.
How to do it
- Turn on developer options On the TV, open Settings › System › About and select the build number 7 times. Then turn on USB debugging, and Network debugging if you see it.
- Tap your TV in TidyTV Your phone finds the TV on the Wi-Fi. Tick "Always allow" and press Allow when the TV asks.
- Review, then tidy TidyTV saves a backup, shows these apps with switches, and turns off the ones you pick, checking each one.
Questions
Will the VIDAA home screen change?
No. This list keeps the stock home screen and only removes the ad, telemetry, push and preloaded layer on top of it.
Will firmware updates still arrive?
Yes. The update services are kept on purpose.
Do HDMI and HDMI-CEC still work?
Yes. They kept working after a few days of use.
